The Division of Breast Surgery understands that emotional well-being plays an important role in healing, and does as much as possible to address the full scope of patients' needs before, during, and after surgery. The division supports several innovative programs to support women’s health, including a Wellness Series, the presence of healers in the operating room, and the annual Bridging the Gap program.
Open to women at any stage of active cancer treatment or survivorship, the Wellness Series program is designed to help participants live a healthy lifestyle on all fronts – mind, body, and spirit. Weekly meetings include education about nutrition, cooking demonstrations, Zumba classes, and special workshops and speakers on a range of topics. The Wellness Series is free and open to women under the care of physicians for any type of cancer, and meets 5:00-6:30 pm in a classroom at the Russ Berrie Pavilion.
