Bactrim® (septra)
Purpose
Prevents bacterial infections.
Dosage
Bactrim is available in pill form and adults will take one tablet daily, or three times a week.
If you miss a dose of any antibiotic medication, take it as soon as you can.
Do not double dose.
Precautions
Some patients are unable to tolerate Bactrim and other sulfa-based medications.
For those patients, the transplant team may Prescribe Dapsone or other medications.
Common Side Effects
Rash, lowered white blood cell count, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sun sensitivity.
