Top Hospital in New York, Ranked No. 4 in The Nation by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals

Once again, NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center was named Top Hospital in New York and rose to No. 4 in the nation, ranking nationally in 15 adult specialties and 8 pediatric specialties.

“Our collective institutions (Columbia, Weill Cornell, and NYP) have taken another step up the U.S. News rankings to No. 4, and we are getting very close to No. 3,” says Dr. Craig Smith, Chair of the Department of Surgery.  “Our Department contributes importantly to the top-ten specialty rankings that help account for this, and everyone in the Department has contributed something to our ascension.  The breadth and depth of what we do here sets us apart, even at the top of the Honor Roll.  The breadth and depth is not just clinical, but cultural and socioeconomic.”

Only 20 hospitals of the 5,000 evaluated made the U.S. News and World Report’s Honor Roll. We are delighted by the recognition as these rankings highlight our commitment to providing the world-class groundbreaking care you know and trust.

Best Hospital rankings are broken down within 16 specialties and 10 procedures and conditions evaluated by U.S. News, awarding hospitals points if they rank in one or more, with more points given for higher rankings.
