Gender-affirming care saves lives. Legislation that bans or limits access to gender-affirming treatments for trans and non-binary youth is dangerous and runs counter to scientific evidence. With endless misinformation out there making its way to the mainstream, it’s important for those seeking gender identity care and their families to get the facts from experts.
On March 18th, we hosted an Instagram live event with Clinical Director of the Gender Identity Program Melina Wald, PhD and Chief of Plastic Surgery Christine Rohde, MD, hosted by plastic surgeon Jeffrey Ascherman, MD. They discussed various aspects of seeking care as children and adults, potential insurance issues, the ins and outs of medical therapy, surgical interventions, and how the team collaborates for the unique needs and desires of each individual.
