What Are Diabetes-Related Vascular Conditions?
Diabetes is a chronic condition that interferes with your body’s ability to regulate blood sugar. Because this regulation is so fundamental to your body’s overall health, diabetes can have a significant impact throughout your body, including the vascular—or circulatory—system.
These complications range from damage to blood vessels in the eyes, kidneys, and legs to nerve and tissue damage. Over time, these problems can worsen, potentially leading to serious and life-threatening symptoms like blindness, kidney failure, foot ulcers, gangrene, and limb loss.
Early identification and proper management and treatment of vascular issues can help prevent further complications and improve your quality of life.
