Endoscopic Revision of Obesity Surgery (EROS)

EROS is a scarless procedure to restore the size of the stomach pouch and stoma to post-gastric bypass proportions in patients who have experienced stomach pouch and stoma enlargement after their gastric bypass surgery—causing them to regain some of their lost weight.

During the procedure, an endoscopic operating system and a small camera are inserted through the mouth and advanced into the stomach pouch, where special tools are used to create and suture tissue folds in the pouch and around the stoma to decrease the volume and diameter. The surgeon performs the procedure entirely through the mouth without making any external or internal incisions.

Endoscopic Repair of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)

Weak LES valve allows food to wash back into esophagusNormal LES valve keeps food in stomach.GERD is a chronic disorder in which acidic stomach contents reflux, or flow back, into the esophagus because the lower esophageal sphincter, the muscle that closes the opening between the esophagus and the stomach, doesn't close properly. Surgical therapy is available for those who do not respond to lifestyle and medical therapy or who do not wish to remain on medications.

During the procedure, an endoscopic operating system and a small camera are inserted through the mouth and advanced to the junction between the esophagus and the stomach. The stomach is tacked alongside the esophagus in order to create a more effective barrier between the stomach and the esophagus. The surgeon performs the procedure entirely through the mouth without making any external or internal incisions.

This procedure is ideal for patients who:

  • Have a positive pH test
  • Are at least partially responsive to proton pump inhibitor medicines (PPIs)
  • Who have significant non-acid regurgitation
  • Who prefer to be off medication
