Guide to Hybrid Arch Surgery
Columbia surgeons have developed an entirely new procedure to rebuild the aortic arch. During this procedure, the patient's blood vessels are moved to alternative sites, which allows for a less invasive means of replacing the entire thoracic aorta. Instead of two separate major operations, the entire rebuilding is accomplished with a combination of open-heart surgery and hybrid stent grafting. This allows our aortic specialists to complete the repair in a single hospital stay.
