How Many Coronavirus Cases Are Happening In Schools? This Tracker Keeps Count

A story that also serves as a jump-off page to follow the outbreak of coronavirus cases in schools across the country. What’s remarkable is that this tracker started as a community effort, spearheaded by a teacher-created database. Information is kept up-to-date and listed clearly in spreadsheets broken down by state. The National Association of Education reporting site is a good one to bookmark in your browser. (From npr.org)

As an adult, I never thought I’d acquire what used to be called ‘juvenile diabetes.’

“I did not know that adults could suddenly, potentially lethally, and without warning develop Type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease different from Type 2,” says Mary Beth Albright, host and editor of food videos at the Washington Post. She’s not alone, many don’t. But Type 1 diabetes can occur at any time, it is just more common in young people.

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition that stops the pancreas’s cells from making insulin. Leaving the body without the main anabolic hormone that regulates the metabolism of carbs, protein, fats, and converts food into energy. Mary Beth’s story is both informative and important. C.D.C. Now Says People Without Covid-19 Symptoms Do Not Need Testing

Closing out with another important reminder— If you have been exposed to COVID-19, get tested whether you have symptoms or not. According to the CDC’s own data, 40 percent of people who tested positive with COVID-19 had no symptoms. To put it plainly, the newest CDC guideline revision on testing is wrong, and scientists are sounding the alarm. Listen to the science. (From nytimes.com)
